[Profile]
Born in Granada in 1934, Manuel Reyes moved to Córdoba at the age of 10, where he continued building guitars until his passing in 2014.

Originally a flamenco guitarist, he began his luthier journey after repairing a guitar given to him by a singer. Dissatisfied with the results, he taught himself to build guitars from scratch. His skills gradually improved, and in 1956, through the introduction of guitarist Pepe Martinez, he met master luthier Marcelo Barbero I.

Although their relationship lasted only about a year before Barbero’s death, it had a profound and lasting influence on Reyes. At the age of 24, he opened his own workshop in Córdoba. His guitars quickly gained recognition for their quality and craftsmanship. In 1979, he relocated his workshop to a quieter location at 7 Calle Alma.

Many guitarists visited his workshop to acquire his instruments. His fame reached its peak in the 1980s when flamenco virtuoso Vicente Amigo began using his guitars. While firmly rooted in flamenco tradition, Reyes’ instruments were also praised by classical players for their delicate tone, expressiveness, meticulous craftsmanship, and exceptional playability.

By the late 20th century, his guitars were regarded as among the most iconic flamenco instruments of the era. Following his death in 2014, his son, Manuel Reyes Hijo, took over the workshop to continue his legacy.

[Description]
This is a flamenco blanca model made in 2000 by Manuel Reyes (1934–2014), the renowned flamenco luthier from Córdoba, Spain.

There are some minor surface scratches on the back and sides caused by contact with clothing, but they are shallow and unobtrusive. There is no history of major repairs such as cracks or structural modifications.

Considering it is a 25-year-old flamenco guitar, it remains in remarkably clean condition. The frets show some signs of wear, but overall, the guitar is well-preserved and remains a fine example of Reyes’ work.
