Yuuichi Shimizu was born at Fuchu-City, Tokyo in 1980. After he graduated from Guitar production vocational school, he joined to Khono Guitar Factory when he was 19 years old. He also learned how to make the classical guitar under the guidance from Masaki Sakurai. Furthermore, he had studied how to make the classical guitar by visiting several workshops in Spain during his a year and 9 month travel. Now in Japan, he continues making the classical guitar with Spanish traditional making method with advices from Koujiro Nejime and Kaoru Ono. He is currently producing at the rate of around 5 pieces per year.
In 2020, an interview with him was featured in Orfeo Magazine No. 15, published by Camino Verde of France, and he is one of the young artists whose reputation in Japan and abroad is growing even more.

Yuichi Shimizu Model No. 70, Romanillos Model (2023), is one of the brand's most popular models along with the Hauser I model. Shimizu's recent works have been highly acclaimed by users for the quality of their workmanship and acoustics, which can be said to be close to the original Romanillos. José Luis Romanillos is known for his photogenic designs, such as the impressive rosette (which resembles the colonnade and arches of the chapel of the famous mosque in Córdoba), but this is the first time Shimizu has produced an original design. The previous works had a complex arrangement of bars by Romanillos (Plan 1), but this work is based on a Torres-style system (Plan 2 by Romanillos), which is a different concept from the previous works in terms of acoustics. The head shape conforms to the Romanillos design.
The previous models designed by Plan1 had successfully landed on a sound that could be called one of the extremes of Romanillos' work after Hauser/Torres, but this new model offers a deep and rich sound that is unique to Shimizu. The moments when a romantic expression springs out of the stoic acoustics are truly wonderful.
While it has Romanillos-like acoustic characteristics, it has a classical charm that is different from the dignified and powerful sound heard in the Hauser model.
