Born in 1952, Alberto Nejime Ohno studied guitar making under master luthier Antonio Marín in Granada, Spain, beginning in 1979. Immersing himself in Spanish craftsmanship and culture, he developed a distinctive style deeply rooted in the Spanish tradition.
His guitars, praised for their elegant appearance and rich, powerful tone, were among the first in Japan to be recognized as truly authentic Spanish instruments. In 1988, he won the Grand Prize at the Kutná Hora International Guitar Making Competition, gaining international recognition.
Beyond building, Nejime has contributed through teaching, judging, and writing—including his well-received series "You Too Can Be a Guitar Builder," later published as a book. In 2020, his work was featured in Orfeo Magazine No. 15 by Camino Verde (France).
[Description] Original Model by Alberto Nejime Ohno (Kojiro Nejime) – 2025 New Arrival
We are pleased to announce the arrival of a brand-new original model crafted in 2025 by Alberto Nejime Ohno (Kojiro Nejime). This guitar is a stunning embodiment of this luthier’s unique artistry—one that combines an eye-opening clarity with an almost demonic depth of resonance, a captivating ambivalence that is the hallmark of his work.
The top bracing features one robust harmonic bar each above and below the soundhole (on the neck and bridge sides), and seven symmetrical fan braces, each approximately 1 cm wide and quite tall, providing solid structural integrity. Near the bottom, two V-shaped closing bars are positioned. Of the seven fan braces, three (the central one and the two outermost) extend all the way to the bottom of the soundboard. The two closing bars are strategically placed between these three to provide support for the remaining four braces just below the bridge. The instrument’s resonance is finely tuned to slightly below A.
The visual contrast between the pale spruce top and the wild, dark hues of the Malaysian Blackwood back and sides is striking. The shellac finish, rich and lustrous, gives the instrument an air of elegance and gravitas. The overall aesthetic is intentionally understated, allowing the natural beauty of the materials to speak for themselves. Notably, a subtle accent is cleverly hidden within the rosette—just beneath the six strings—adding a discreet touch of sophistication.
This guitar also excels in performance: the Malaysian Blackwood imparts a brilliant, hard-edged, and transparent tone, while the response is impressively immediate. A fully realized and highly refined new work.
