[Profile]
Pepe Romero Jr. was born in 1978. His father is the famous guitarist Pepe Romero. It is not difficult to imagine that Pepe Romero Jr. spent his childhood in a fortunate environment with this rare master guitarist and his many excellent guitars, and developed his sensibility. However, he was not interested in making a living as a guitarist, and instead became fascinated with woodworking. His grandfather, Celedonio Romero, noticed his talent and encouraged him to make guitars. When he was 18 years old, he completed his first guitar under the tutelage of guitar maker Dake Traphagen, and decided to make it his profession. He then moved to Spain where he was trained by the son of Miguel Rodriguez, the renowned maker of his father's beloved instrument, as well as by master craftsmen such as Manuel Contreras II and Jose Luis Romanillos. In the 2000s, he continued his studies in Germany under the tutelage of Edmund Bröchinger. Although he loves the historical masterpieces of Torres, Manuel Ramirez, and Santos Hernandez, his greatest influence in guitar making has been Miguel Rodriguez. Currently, he is particularly interested in applying the reverse arrangement bars system that Rodriguez is said to have produced only a few of in the 1970s.
His father's use of Pepe Romero Jr. guitars brought him instant fame, and his guitars, with their Spanish tradition and American engineering precision, have a great appeal and a steadily growing user base. Since 2010, he has also started making ukuleles and developing a brand strategy for popular models under his supervision.
All his guitars are labeled with “Dedicada a Celedonio Romero”, a dedication to his late grandfather, Celedonio, who guided him in his guitar making career.

[Description]
Pepe Romero Jr. production No. 118, made in 2007, is now in stock. It is made of high quality spruce from the Hermann Hauser III workshop stock, and the inside of the body is marked as having been given by a Japanese guitarist, so it was probably made to order by that guitarist. Romero's works are characterized by the sound of Spanish guitars such as Miguel Rodriguez's, as evidenced by their structural origins. However, the sound heard here differs from such a tendency, and is oriented toward Hauser-like acoustic characteristics, which is unusual for him. This piece has a pleasant rigidity and softness at the same time. The sound is lean and natural, and the melody is a natural undulation, just like Hauser's. In Romero's case, the sound is characterized not by Hauser's solemnity, but by a clear, even light-hearted naturalness. There are some playing scratches and scuffs from both sides of the fingerboard to the soundhole area, as well as minor scratches throughout. There is no history of major repairs such as cracks or modifications.
