Rubén Moisés López was born in Madrid in 1967, the son of the renowned master luthier Marcelino López Nieto (1931–2018). Growing up in a unique environment where the family home combined a workshop and a museum of instruments, Rubén began learning woodworking and guitar making as early as the age of five. Under the guidance of his father, he refined his craft steadily and eventually began producing guitars under his own label in the late 1990s.

His instruments, marked by the same meticulous workmanship as his father’s, carry a distinctive warmth and refinement in both sound and appearance. Deeply rooted in respect for the Spanish guitar-making tradition, they have been highly valued since their first appearance. Rubén is no longer active as a luthier, and with Marcelino’s passing in 2018, the absence of new instruments from this workshop is keenly felt by many guitar enthusiasts.

This is a 2002 classical guitar by Rubén Moisés López, an original model. The instrument exudes a vintage character that reflects his father Marcelino’s style but with an even more austere, mature aesthetic. Among his contemporaries, Rubén’s guitars stand out for their uniquely “Madrileño” character and individuality.

The tonal qualities follow the same vein—dark-hued and refined—yet without any lack of power, expressive capacity, dynamic range, or responsiveness. It is a well-balanced concert instrument that combines subtlety with strength.

The guitar shows a fair amount of playing wear, including scratches and minor dents, but has no history of major repairs. The neck and frets remain in good condition with no issues affecting playability. A rare opportunity to acquire a secondhand instrument from this now highly scarce and much-missed workshop.
