Born in Ueda City, Nagano in 1973. He has been interested in making guitars since he was a college student, and learned how to make guitars from Sakae Ishii, another guitar maker in Nagano, when he was 20 years old. Later, in 2001, he attended a workshop with Jose Luis Romanillos in Sigüenza, Spain, and received instruction from him. His instruments, whether original or replica models, consistently have a soft, full sound and a rustic tone that evokes the feel of wood, and have been gaining more and more recognition and popularity in recent years.

This is the Romanillos model, which has become Satoru Sakuma's standard model; it is based on the Romanillos guitars of the 1970s and follows the same appearance, including the mosaic and head design, but with Sakuma's personality firmly in place throughout. While retaining the transparent sound of the original, it has the simple and clear tone of wood and good separation of each note. The light body sounds well and is well suited to Japanese tastes.
Romanillos' works are characterized by their unique appearance, and here the contrast between the white of the spruce and the reddish brown of the rosette is particularly vivid.
