[Profile] Born in Granada, Spain in 1933. He started out as a furniture craftsman and later entered the workshop of local maker Eduardo Ferrer in 1959 to learn how to make guitars. In 1961 he started his career by opening a collaborative workshop with Manuel Bellido, who he had studied with. After that, he became independent and increased his reputation as a maker. Then, in 1977, a Japanese inventor met Marin with the great French maker Robert Bouchet (1898-1986), and Marin's style changed drastically. This French master is immediately aware of Marin's extraordinary talent, and then goes to Granada himself and invites Marin to France to give personal advice on guitar making. Originally he made guitars with the sound of the Andalusian region, but after meeting Boucher, he pursued a higher level of artistry as an instrument. His guitar, which has reached an extremely high level in both sound and appearance, is currently given the highest evaluation as a true masterpiece representing Granada. Also, in love with his personality, young talents from all over the world are now gathering in Granada, and an international competition bearing his name is being held. Even now, when he is about 90 years old, he continues to work with his nephew Jose Marin and others. He is one of the best maestro and oldest in the Spanish guitar making world.
[Description] We are pleased to announce the arrival of a new Bouchet model Modelo B 2023, No.1654 640mm, made by Antonio Marin Montero. This model was the fruit of a friendship with Robert Bouchet, and was an epoch-making model that combined Bouchet-like acoustics and Granada tradition at an extremely high level. This piece has a string length 1 cm shorter than the usual 650 mm, making it easier to play for smaller hands and women. The new work by Spain's longest-serving maestro, who will turn 90 this year, surprises players with a sound that is becoming more and more mature. The sound is lucid, strong, and rich with rigidity, and it sings well with long sustain. The sound is one of the most powerful in Spain, but it is also elegant, which is something only a maestro can achieve. The short scale of 640 mm has no disadvantages at all. This is truly a masterpiece. The entire piece is finished in a beautiful shellac finish. The detailed workmanship from the appearance to the interior is also exquisite, and the quality of the craftsmanship is outstanding. The strings are moderately tensioned and very easy to play.
